Pa'Ella!

I began with this book Sophomore year at Rhode Island School of Design. The assignment was to compose a cook book. I just wanted to draw because that year my illustrative skills were beginning to evolve (the truth behind that was due to the obsession with typography and drawing letters).

The comments I have received after finalizing the book to my best abilities were truly surprising. Many mentioned that it should be published, or the most difficult one to swallow was, "You should transfer to Illustration." Partially, that was a compliment, however, I was worried, and extremely close to changing my major. Thank God (or some spiritual sort of guidance) I remained where I was: Graphic Design. I decided to continue using this book as a reference of what type of Design can be made. What I can document is that I focused little on my type and more on my illustrations, as a result, I am creating another book. It is also based on my Spanish cultural background. It is a new project that I am working on with my father. My father had this beautiful invented Spanish fable kept safely in his mind, and I wanted his dreams to come true by helping him design a book for it. Based on what I have learned from my previous project I'm hoping to create something better and more finalized. Recognizing and accepting process is the key. I'll be gradually adding the sketches and images to show how the book is turning out.

  2. Thanks! I am little by little understanding the coding. It's taking a while to figure out, but I'm getting there.
